What can you do?

Daily care

With Jauni, you can care for your baby in a normal way. For example, you can change diapers yourselves, you can lift and cuddle your baby, and you can breastfeed or bottle-feed yourselves. This is good and pleasant for your baby, and for yourselves. You will get to know each other quickly. So try to continue with daily normal care as much as possible.

Feeding

Enough food is important for a baby with jaundice. Discuss with your doctor or nurse what sufficient feeding is for your baby, and how you will feed your baby. It is also good to keep track of how much and how often your baby has eaten.

While your baby is undergoing phototherapy with Jauni, you can help ensure that your baby gets better faster. In this article, we give a few examples of what you can do. Make agreements about this with your doctor or nurse. What they say always takes precedence over what is stated in this app.

Keeping track of dirty diapers

One way to see if your baby is getting enough food is to count how many dirty diapers your baby has had. This helps the doctor and nurse. Write it down when you change a diaper, and what kind of diaper it was (poop and/or pee).

Measuring temperature

It is important to keep an eye on your baby's temperature. Make agreements with your nurse or yourselves about whether, when and how you will measure it.

Taking care of yourselves

You can best take care of your baby when things are going well for you. Take enough rest and eat well so that you can be there for your baby.

There is more information about these topics in the app. Especially in chapter "3. What you can do", there is additional information.
