Taking care of yourself

You can best care for your baby when you are doing well yourselves. The most important thing is that you take enough rest and eat healthily.

Tips for good rest:

  • Sleep when your baby sleeps.

  • Agree with your partner to alternate rest breaks.

  • Eating healthy contributes to more energy and better rest.

  • Take it easy and don't plan too many visits.

Other tips for taking care of yourselves:

  • Discuss things with your nurse. They will recognize what you are going through and can often help you further.

  • Call someone to talk about it. For example, friends or family.

  • Ask for help. It can be very nice if someone wants to cook for when you get home, for example.
