After therapy
Usually, therapy ends after 2 to 4 days. The amount of bilirubin in the blood is then back to normal. The doctor can see this from the results of a blood test. After this, the doctor or nurse will inform you.
When therapy is over, the bodysuit(s) used by your baby do(es) not need to be returned to the hospital. You can keep and use it yourself.
A follow-up appointment will also be made. Then the doctor can check on your baby's progress. They will likely check the bilirubin in the blood again.
But our baby is still yellow?
Your baby may still appear yellow. Even after therapy is over. This is normal. It can take up to 2 months for the skin and whites of the eyes to no longer appear yellow.
